Privacy policy

UMBrokerage for Insurance and Reinsurance s.a.r.l. (“UMB”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose and protect your personal data when you visit our website, request insurance quotations, contact us or use our online services. It is prepared in accordance with the laws of Lebanon, including Law No. 81 of 2018 on Electronic Transactions and Personal Data, and the regulations governing insurance brokerage.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use our website, we may collect:
- Identification details: full name, email, telephone number, postal address, date of birth and nationality where required, and company name for corporate clients.
- Insurance details: type of insurance requested, vehicle, property, business or travel information, claims history, and other information needed to obtain quotations or arrange cover.
- Technical details: IP address, browser, device and operating system, pages visited, date and time of access, and cookies and similar technologies.
2. How we use your information
- Providing insurance brokerage services and obtaining quotations from insurers
- Processing applications, and managing policies and renewals
- Responding to enquiries and providing customer support
- Improving our website and services
- Detecting fraud or misuse
- Complying with legal and regulatory obligations, and maintaining business records
We only process personal information that is necessary for these purposes.
3. Legal basis for processing
Under applicable Lebanese law, we process personal data where:
- you have given your consent;
- processing is necessary to perform services you requested;
- processing is required to comply with legal obligations;
- processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests, provided those interests do not override your rights.
4. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Insurance companies and reinsurers
- Insurance service providers, claims administrators and loss adjusters
- Medical providers, where necessary
- IT, payment and professional service providers
- Government authorities, regulators, courts or law enforcement where required by law

Some of our service providers or insurance partners may process personal data outside Lebanon. Where this happens, we take reasonable measures to ensure your information receives a level of protection consistent with applicable Lebanese law.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including secure servers, access controls, encryption where appropriate, and internal confidentiality procedures, to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, theft, misuse, alteration, disclosure and destruction.
No internet transmission or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary to provide our services, fulfil contractual obligations, comply with Lebanese legal and regulatory requirements, resolve disputes and enforce our legal rights. After that, it is securely deleted or anonymised where reasonably practicable.

Our website and services are not intended for individuals under 18 without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors except where legally required for insurance purposes and with appropriate authorisation.
